Six kids. Six serious illnesses. Six pairs of Nike shoes they designed themselves.

Every year, patients at OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital team up with Nike designers to create shoes that tell their stories. Freestyle 21 featured Sergio, Molly, Raegan, Khovny, Oli and Zach, ages 8 to 17. Each one designed a shoe around who they are, from a future chef’s kitchen utensils to a cyclist built for speed. We captured the heart behind the designs and the joy of kids who’ll now inspire others at the hospital that changed their lives.
