A mass timber roof, built in sections on the ground and moved into place over a working airport.
The new main terminal at Portland International Airport sits under a sweeping wood roof that brings the Pacific Northwest indoors. The Hoffman Skanska joint venture, working with ZGF Architects, prefabricated the roof in massive panels and moved them into position while PDX stayed open to travelers. For Autodesk, we followed the builders and designers behind it, from the jobsite and the planning tools to the finished terminal. A landmark project in our own hometown.
